About Michelle

Michelle is the author of Spare, forthcoming in 2025. Spare was the Runner-up for publication from the 2023 Barrow Street Press Prose Contest judged by Mary Cappello. She is the recipient of the 2018 Marystina Santiestevan First Book Prize chosen by Bob Hicok and is the author of Animul/Flame (Conduit Books & Ephemera), which was a finalist for the 2020 Maine Literary Award and winner of the 2020 Midwest Book Award. She is also the author of two chapbooks, Who Will Be Frenchy? (dancing girl press) and The Desire Line (Moon Pie Press). Her poetry has appeared in Bennington Review, Indiana Review, Copper Nickel, Hunger Mountain, and Denver Quarterly among others. She has written essays and reviews for Gettysburg Review, Rain Taxi, Electric Lit, Anomaly and others. She is the recipient of two Maine Arts Commission grants, a Vermont Studio Center fellowship and residency, a Monson Arts fellowship and residency, and she has been awarded residencies at The Studios of Key West and Studio Faire in NĂ©rac, France. She produces and co-hosts the podcast, Pardon My French with Cecile and Michelle.
